Angelino was the only Manchester City player that reached the Champions League semifinal this year. Of course, he did that because he wasn’t at City.
Spanish left-back started his career at Deportivo La Coruna, but in 2013 he joined Manchester City. He was 16 years old, and after 2 years with youth teams, he got loaned for the first time. He played his first 15 senior matches for New York Red Bull in MLS.
That paved his way to future success. In 2016/17 he had a failed loan stint at Girona, but in the winter part of the season, he joined Mallorca and played 17 games. In the next 2 seasons, he found his form in Eredivisie.
Playing for NAC Breda and PSV he was one of the best left backs in the league. That earned him a place in the Manchester City squad for the 2019/20 season. After playing 12 games in the first half of the season, he was loaned to RB Leipzig,
There he played 18 games, got 1 goal and 5 assists. In the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Atletico Madrid, he proved his worth, getting an assist in that match.
Despite having large problems at the left back place, with Zinchenko and Mendy failing to get the consistent form, Angelino didn’t get recalled to Manchester City. But RB Leipzig decided to take him on a one-year loan with an obligation to buy at the end of that season for €20 million.
So after 6 loan spells at 4 different countries, the young defender finally found his home He wandered around, but in the end he found his place under the sun.
