Just ten days into the new season and newly reformed Serbian Superliga excites fans much more than it was expected.
Unfortunately, fans can’t attend games yet, but football is spectacular, and there is many reasons to be cheerful about this season. We wrote a lot about rule change in Serbian Superliga and the fact that many young players will get their chance to blossom this season.
But apart from that, football is electric, attacking, and full of goals. Reformed top-tier with 20 teams started with a bang. On the first day of the new season, we had 10 goals in 3 games. In northern derby TSC and Vojvodina drew 2:2, Spartak beat Zlatibor 3:0 and Mladost got 2:1 win against Javor.
With the condensed schedule at the start of the season, after just 10 days, three rounds were played. In 30 matches 99 goals were scored, and football was a lot better than expected.
Newcomers Novi Pazar beat Partizan 3:2 in a game in which we saw a penalty, an own goal, and two comebacks. Novi Pazar took the lead, then visitors scored twice, but in the end, the home team won.
Mladost Lučani beat Radnik 3:2 in a similar game. In the third round, we saw less than 3 goals in only 2 games. Two teams scored double-digit goals in the first 10 days, and none of them are Red Star and Partizan. Highest scoring teams come from the north – Spartak Subotica and TSC Bačka Topola.
In the following rounds we expect more and more brilliant games. Also, with shortened qualification procces for Champions League and Europa League, we could see more than 2 Serbian clubs in continental competition this season.
